For those upgrading from a previous version of Claris Emailer or Claris Emailer Lite, the following instructions provide a clean install, which will avoid any accidental loss of data.

Simple Upgrading Instructions:
1. Verify that the folder that contains your existing Claris Emailer application is named 'Claris Emailer Folder'
2. Move this 'Claris Emailer Folder' to the root directory (first level) of your hard disk.
3. Double-click the Claris Emailer 2.0 Installer.
4. In the Install Location section of the installer window, click the 'Switch Disk' button until you see the disk on which your 'Claris Emailer Folder' resides.
5. Click Install.
During installation the Installer will ask if you are upgrading from a previous version. If you are, select 'Yes'. You may then be asked to identify your Claris Emailer Files folder. If you have multiple Claris Emailer Files folders, select the one that contains your existing Filing Cabinet or Claris Emailer database.
IMPORTANT: If you choose to create an entirely new Claris Emailer Folder, rather than installing into your existing one as instructed above, Claris Emailer DOES NOT move the Claris Emailer Files folder (including your new mail database) into the new Claris Emailer Folder. The new Claris Emailer application uses the Claris Emailer Files folder in the old Claris Emailer Folder.
If you want to have an entirely new Claris Emailer Folder, you need to drag the Claris Emailer Files folder from your old Claris Emailer Folder to the new one after the conversion is complete.
CAUTION: If you delete your older Claris Emailer folder without transferring the Claris Emailer Files folder as described, you will delete all of your previously saved email messages and your new mail database.
Detailed Instructions:
An important new feature of Claris Emailer 2.0 is storage of your email documents in a database. The database provides quicker access to your documents and saves on hard disk space, because your documents are saved in this new database format.
These instructions will ensure that you safely convert your saved mail from 1.X and 2.0 public beta versions to 2.0 final format.
Please read and follow these instructions carefully.
Before you convert:
Currently in Claris Emailer 1.X, your documents are saved individually in the Filing Cabinet folder of the Claris Emailer Files folder. In the 2.0 version of Claris Emailer, a Mail folder in the Claris Emailer Files folder contains a database, which stores all your messages.
Upgrading Claris Emailer 1.X or a previous beta version of Claris Emailer 2.0 is easiest when the existing Claris Emailer Folder is named "Claris Emailer Folder". If it is not, you should rename it before installation.
When you double-click to install Claris Emailer 2.0, the Installer screen has a panel in the lower left corner labeled "Installation Location." Use the popup menu to choose the folder in which the Claris Emailer Folder is located. Be sure to choose the folder that contains the Claris Emailer Folder NOT the Claris Emailer folder itself. (For Example: If your Claris Emailer Folder resides in a folder named 'Applications', select 'Applications' as the installation location.)
Then install Claris Emailer 2.0.
A dialog will ask "Are you upgrading from any earlier versions of Claris Emailer or from a beta version of Claris Emailer 2.0?" Click Yes.
The installation will then proceed for a while. If you answered yes to the upgrading question, you might be presented with a dialog asking you to locate the Claris Emailer Files folder from your previous version.
This dialog contains all the Claris Emailer Files folders found on all mounted volumes. When you click on one of them, a pane in the bottom half of the dialog shows the path to that folder. Select the folder you wish to upgrade and click OK.
If you installed into a folder other than the existing Claris Emailer Folder, when you start Claris Emailer 2.0 you see a dialog asking you to locate the Claris Emailer Files folder. Navigate to and choose the Claris Emailer Files folder that you upgraded when you installed. If you installed into the existing Claris Emailer Folder, you will not have this step.
Next, if you are upgrading from Emailer 1.x (including Lite), a dialog asks whether you want to convert your existing messages. Click Yes to convert your messages to the new database format. Depending on how many saved messages you have, the conversion process can take several minutes to several hours.
